True B2B growth today cannot be sustained by market momentum alone, nor by simply adopting the newest technology. It depends on strengthening the strategic infrastructure that allows a business to capture opportunities, make better decisions, and adapt as conditions change.

Recently, BBCIncorp, represented by our CEO, Mr. Oliver, joined more than 700 multinational executives at the MMA CMO + CEO Summit Vietnam 2026. While the event created valuable opportunities for cross-border connections and new partnerships, the discussions also revealed a broader shift in how businesses need to think about growth and competitiveness in an increasingly complex environment.

Looking across the conversations around technology, brand, and market dynamics, three macro-level insights stand out as particularly relevant to the next phase of business expansion:

1. A growing economy does not guarantee a growing business

A stronger economy can create favourable conditions, but favourable conditions alone do not create business growth. Rising GDP or growth within a particular sector may expand the opportunity available to a company, yet the ability to turn that opportunity into revenue and profit depends on the business itself.

The difference between market potential and actual performance often comes down to capability.

As customer decision-making becomes faster and more fragmented, businesses need to continually reassess their competitive position. Expansion and scaling can also expose weaknesses that were less visible at an earlier stage. Without the right legal, compliance, and financial infrastructure, greater scale can introduce friction rather than simply create more opportunity.

A business can only capture the opportunities its infrastructure is capable of supporting.

2. AI can accelerate the business, but it cannot decide where to go

AI is rapidly transforming search behaviour, customer experiences, and the way businesses process information. Its greatest advantage may be speed: businesses can analyse, personalise, test, and execute at a scale that was previously difficult to achieve.

But as access to that speed becomes increasingly widespread, speed itself becomes less differentiating. The more important competitive question is whether businesses are using that capability in the right direction.

AI can optimise execution, but it cannot replace the human judgement, trust, and authentic interaction required in complex B2B relationships. Strategy therefore remains the critical filter between information and action.

AI can make execution more efficient. It cannot determine whether the objective itself is worth pursuing.

3. Adaptability is becoming a business asset

Growth can strengthen a business while also making it more dependent on established systems, processes, and structures. Over time, that can make meaningful change harder when markets shift.

Sustainable growth requires a balance between short-term responsiveness and long-term consistency. This is where the “Chopsticks” philosophy becomes relevant: businesses need enough agility to respond to immediate opportunities while maintaining a clear and consistent Brand DNA.

Adaptability is therefore moving beyond an individual leadership capability. It is becoming a structural advantage.

The strongest businesses build foundations that preserve optionality: the ability to change direction, pause an initiative, or redirect resources without disrupting the entire organisation.

The path forward

The conversations at the summit reinforced a reality that modern businesses cannot ignore: scaling successfully requires more than investing in technology. It requires an upgrade to the infrastructure that supports strategy, operations, and growth.

Over the coming weeks, BBCIncorp will continue this Thought Leadership series by examining each of these three pillars in greater depth, exploring how businesses can build stronger foundations for growth in 2027 and beyond.
